Blog and News
In this article we are going to tell you about the main trends in Dynamics 365 Business Central, focusing on the tools that enable you to more easily get to productive usage – onboarding functionality, enhanced integration capabilities, improvements in productivity and data storage in Business Central Online.
New improvements in the system are made available in the form of monthly updates. Twice a year – in April and October, major updates (wave 1 and wave 2) are released, which include a number of new capabilities of the system.
Over the past year, Microsoft has invested in several key areas of improvement in Microsoft 365 Business Central:
Onboarding is a new functionality that enables users who do not know the system to navigate easily and quickly when using its basic modules / functionalities. On opening the so-called “Assisted Setup”, the system automatically starts to “guide” you by providing instructions for entering initial data. Thus, users can easily get to know the product, even if they do not know it in advance.
Integration with Microsoft Teams
In recent months, there has been a growing need for the development of remote communication products to easily carry out daily business tasks also in home office mode. For this reason, Microsoft has put efforts into integrating MS Teams with Business Central. For example, there is a new functionality that can be used to search for and “call up” a contact from Dynamics 365 Business Central while working in MS Teams.
Integration with Dataverse (Common Data Service)
Dataverse – Common Data Service is a platform which provides integration between the various products of the Dynamics 365 family.
The integration with Outlook enables users to use and register emails in Dynamics 365 Business Central. Until now, the sent emails in the Outbox of Dynamics 365 Business Central have been tracked, texts have been entered before sending an email from Dynamics 365 Business Central, and emails for different scenarios have been associated.
The new improvement in Dynamics 365 Business Central 18 helps to store attachments as media fields, and also removes the file size limit of up to 3 MB.
A long-awaited improvement is the connection established between the email and the object from which it was sent.
Example:
A posted invoice is available and it must be sent to the customer. After sending, the email will be registered in Dynamics 365 Business Central and the link to which invoice the email refers will be recorded too.
With this link, in addition to accessing the invoice, users already have access to the emails associated with that invoice.
Cloud storage
Until now, Business Central Cloud has used 80 GB of storage space in Microsoft cloud structure. From 1 July this year, Microsoft will provide to its users – in addition to those 80 GB – further 2 or 3 GB of storage space, depending on whether it is an Essentials or Premium user.
Optimisation
As the size of data increases, Microsoft also provides the appropriate tools for managing this data. Here are some of them:
